Highlanders trounce Quirindi to come up with fifth spot

HIGHLANDERS coach Scott Bremner called Inverell’s 48-0 win over Quirindi on the weekend as “a good result”.

“Quirindi have been doing it a bit hard this year, but it was good to get down there and notch up a good win,” he said.

“The score-line could have possibly blown out a bit more but the ball was a bit greasy and the final passes didn’t go to hand. It was a good result.”

Bremner said the Highlanders went into the game feeling reasonably confident.

“But Quirindi generally spring an upset once every year, so I’m just glad it wasn’t us,” he said.

“The game is quite hard to explain. Quirindi had some quite good players, but they just seemed to lack any direction. At times they played some reasonably handy football, but our defence was very good.
