At Walcha, captain Simon Newton scooped the awards.

The five-eighth/inside centre was named best and fairest, players’  player and highest point scorer.

Half-back Soni Halanukonuka was runner-up to Newton for the best and fairest while AFL convert Will Plush was judged the most improved.

Plush hadn’t played rugby – or even really watched a game – before this season but was able to work his way onto a starting spot on the wing.

Two of the Rams’ promising juniors were also recognised, with five-eighth Bevan Wood picking up the U19s best and fairest ahead of Thomas Boyd.
