2015 Central Northern Zone Committee decided at AGM

27th Oct 2014

A new Committe for the Central Northern Rugby Zone was elected at yesterday's Annual General Meeting.

Peter Burke stood down after a 3 year stint at the top job leaving the Zone in a sound position. He has been nominated for Life Member of the Zone which will be a well deserved acknowledgement of his commitment and good work.

New President is Tony Byrnes who has been around the Zone since Noah was a boy. He was elected unopposed.

Jenny Middlemiss was re-electd as Senior Vice President and thank the Gods for that as she does an enormous amount of work behind the scenes including trying to figure out the best draw for the two tier competition. Knocks up a nice lunch too!

Jason Elms from Narrabri was elected in a ballot to the position of Junior Vice President with the hard working outgoing Kel Collyer now free to put in another few years as Pirates President. Kel is just getting into stride in that position. Kel is still part of the Zone mix as a Pirate delegate.

The position of Secretary was also decided in a ballot with stalwart David Rodgers being elected to this position. Outgoing Secretary Damien Henry's good work was acknowledged.

Just to add to his workload, David Rodgers was also elected unopposed to the position of Treasurer. David has been around for a year or two and knows everything there is to know about Committee business and the Zone in general.

This created a vacancy on the Zone Executive and a proposal to include the position of Club Recorder on the Executive was approved. Just the one nomination from current Zone Recorder Wayne McMahon who was enthusiastically elected to the position. Wayne will continue to deal with the Clubs almost on a daily basis in all matters around this topical interest.

President Byrnes will be calling on all Clubs to embrace any opportunity to grow the interest in rugby in the Zone with a strong focus on building on the junior ranks.
