Boars defence shuts out Devils

As predicted ahead of last Saturday’s match, it was the defensive prowess of the Blue Boars that was key in notching up their seventh straight win of the season, remaining the only unbeaten side in the Central North competition.
Gunnedah Red Devils came to town off the back of some impressive wins and were expected to give the home side a real test at Dangar Park, and they didn’t disappoint.
“We were made to work hard and that’s exactly what we needed,” Blue Boars co-coach Tom Cullen said.
“We needed a game where we would be tested and full credit to them (Gunnedah) as they gave it to us.”
There were a few nerves in the opening phases of the match, with the Boars making uncharacteristic handling errors, to give Gunnedah some early attacking opportunities.
However the visitors were unable to convert their chances shifting momentum back to the Boars, with Brenton Cochrane producing some quality football to put the first points on the board.
